Cheesy Beef Shepard's Pie

Updated: Dec 3, 2022

Cooking Shepard's pie is a fun and easy process that is hard to go wrong and always tastes right. Just make mashed potatoes and meat sauce then combine in a baking dish and pop into the oven. In the UK, they used to use sheep/mutton that's why it is called Shepard (which means sheep) however in the USA, most restaurants serve with beef nowadays.

<Direction>

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Brown minced beef and set aside.

  3. Chop all the vegetables and stir fry for 5 minutes. Add the cooked meat, herbs, tomato paste, ketchup and flour and stir until combined. Add wine and Worcester sauce and cook for 3 minutes.

  4. Mash the potatoes with milk, butter, nutmeg and salt.

  5. In a baking dish, spoon beef mixture on the bottom and spread mashed potato on top.

  6. Sprinkle cheese and herbs on top and put in 400 degree oven for 30 minutes.
