Cooking Shepard's pie is a fun and easy process that is hard to go wrong and always tastes right. Just make mashed potatoes and meat sauce then combine in a baking dish and pop into the oven. In the UK, they used to use sheep/mutton that's why it is called Shepard (which means sheep) however in the USA, most restaurants serve with beef nowadays.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Brown minced beef and set aside.
Chop all the vegetables and stir fry for 5 minutes. Add the cooked meat, herbs, tomato paste, ketchup and flour and stir until combined. Add wine and Worcester sauce and cook for 3 minutes.
Mash the potatoes with milk, butter, nutmeg and salt.
In a baking dish, spoon beef mixture on the bottom and spread mashed potato on top.
Sprinkle cheese and herbs on top and put in 400 degree oven for 30 minutes.

2 or 3 russet potatoes
1/3 cup mik
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 lb minced beef
1/4 cup chopped carrots
1/4 cup chopped onions
1/4 cup chopped celery
2 tbsp chopped garlic
1tbsp chopped parsley
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp ketchup
1tbsp flour
1.5 cup white wine (can be red wine)
3 tbsp butter
1 spring thyme
3 tbsp cheddar/parmesan/mozzarella mix or any cheese
